Lakeshore Jazz Connection presents “Big Band Bash” featuring the Grand Rapids Jazz Orchestra on Saturday, June 13th at 7:30 PM at the historic Saugatuck Woman’s Club, 303 Butler Street, Saugatuck. Before the music begins, audiences are invited to a special FREE pre-concert panel discussion at 6:30 PM exploring a remarkable piece of local jazz history: Duke Ellington’s little-known 1961 performance in the Saugatuck area. Eric Gollannek, Lazaro Vega, Jim Cooper and others wil be part of this pre-concert event. The evening will also spotlight the next generation of jazz musicians with the presentation of the first-ever Lakeshore Jazz Connection Student Jazz Award to Saugatuck High School Freshman and trombonist Max Silva. Community members who value live jazz, sponsoring young talent, and preserving local history are encouraged to support Lakeshore Jazz Connection through a tax-deductible donation.
